The All Highest conveys His peace on you and His salutation, and He has sworn by His Honor and Glory that He has not created, but the erected Sky, the spread Earth, the illuminated Moon, the bright Sun, the rotating Universe, the flowing Seas, and the sailing Ships but for your sake and your love. God has given me permission to enter and sit with all of you underneath the Vestment.. Do you also grant me that permission, O Prophet of Allah?"
  154.  The Prophet replied, "And upon you be peace, O thou who art the Trusted with The Revelations of Allah; yes I grant you permission to enter."  So The Archangel Gabriel entered and sat beneath the Vestment with us all, and said to my Father that indeed Allah has sent this revelation to you;
  155. "Verily Allah desires to keep away all blemish from you, O Ahlul-Bayt, and to purify you with a perfect purification."

  164. Hazrat Muhammad (s.a.w.a.) said:- we seven, (i.e. Ali, my brother, Hamza, my uncle, Jafar, Hassan, Hussein, Mahdi and Myself) the sons of Abdul-Muttalib are the leaders of paradise.
  165. "The Prophet (S) said on the day of (the victory of) Khaybar: 'Tomorrow I will give the standard to a man, by whose hand God shall conquer (Khaybar). He loves God and His Messenger, and God and His Messenger love him.' The people passed the night wondering as to who will receive it and everyone was hopeful of getting it. (The next day) the Prophet (S) declared: 'Where is `Ali?' He was told: 'He is suffering with an eye pain.' (When `Ali came) the Prophet applied his saliva to his eyes and prayed for him. `Ali recovered as if he had no pain before. Then the Prophet (S) gave it (the standard) to him....

  181. Whoever helps me in this matter will be my brother, my testamentary trustee (wasi) my helper (wazir), my heir and my successor after me.
  182. Then the Commander of the faithful, peace be on him, stood up before him among all the gathering of them, and on that day he was the youngest of them, and he (Ali a.s )said: O Apostle of God, I will help you.
  183. Then the Prophet, may God bless him and his family, said: Sit down, you are my brother, my trustee, my helper, my inheritor and successor after me.
  184. Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w , according to Imam 'Ali, used to ask him to write down what he said. 'Ali asked him if the Prophet thought 'Ali might forget.
  185. Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w said: "No, because I have prayed to God to make you among those who remembers things and records them. However, I want you to preserve it for your companions and the Imams who will come after you. It is because of the blessed existence of the Imams that the rain falls on earth for the people, their prayers get accepted, the calamities go by them and mercy descends on them." Then the Prophet pointed towards Hasan and said: "This is the second in the line of the Imams," and added, "the Imams will be from the descendants of Husyan."
  186. Ahmad b. Hanbal relates on the authority of Umm Salama, the Prophet's wife, that he said to Fatima one day: 'Bring me your husband and two sons.' When they had all come together he spread over them a mantle, and laying his hand over them, he said: 'O God, these are the people of the House of Muhammad! Let therefore your prayers and blessings descend upon Muhammad and the people of the House of Muhammad; for you are worthy of all praise and glory.' Umm Salama continued: 'I then lifted the mantle to enter in with them, but he pulled it away from my hand saying, "You too shall come to a good end".
  187. In another highly interesting version of the kisa' tradition, related on the authority of 'Abd Allah b.
Jafar b. Abi Talib, we read:  As the Apostle of God saw mercy descending, he demanded: 'Call them for me, call them for me!' Safiyya asked: 'Who should we call, O Messenger of God?' He answered: 'Call the people of my household: 'Ali, Fatima, Hasan, and Husayn.' When they were brought, he spread a mantle over them; then lifting his hands to heaven said: 'O God, these are the people of my House; bless, O God, Muhammad and the people of the House of Muhammad!' God then sent down the verse: Surely God wishes to remove all abomination from you, O People of the House, and purify you with a thorough purification.  Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad b. Abd Allah al-Nisaburi, Mustadrak al-sahihayn (Haydarabad [Deccan], 1324), III, 147. See also Qur. 33:33.
  188. Before the sectarian conflicts which split the Muslim community set in, classical tradition was almost unanimous in interpreting this verse as referring to the Prophet, his daughter Fatima al-Zahra' (the Radiant), her husband and cousin,' Ali, and their two sons Hasan and Husayn. See, for example, the commentary on this verse in al-Zamakhshari and al-Tabari.
  189. Wathila b. al-Asqa', on whose authority this tradition in most of its variants is related, reports the following prayer uttered by the Prophet:  O God, as you have bestowed your blessings, mercy,
forgiveness, and pleasure upon Abraham and the family of Abraham, so they ['Ali, Fatima, Hasan and Husayn] are of me and I am of them! Bestow, therefore, your blessings, mercy, forgiveness and pleasure upon me and them. 'Ala al-Din Ali al-Muttaqi b. Husam al-Din al-Hindi, Kanz al-'ummal (Haydarabad [Deccan], 1312), p. 217.
  190. It is Narrated by H.Umar that he heard from Holy Prophet s.a.w that He s.a.w says ,When Imam Ali (AS) came, the Prophet (SAW) summoned him to bend down and sit close to him so that
he can speak with him privately. A while later the Prophet (SAW) told him "put my head on your
lap for the order of God (for my death) has come. When my soul departs, take it with your hands
and rub your face with it...." Later on people asked Imam Ali (AS) "O Abul Hassan, what did the
Prophet (SAW) entrust to you before his death when he was talking to you privately"? Imam Ali (SA)
said "the Prophet has taught me a thousand doors of knowledge and each door opened for me another
thousand doors"! So in another words, in the span of a few minutes only the Prophet (SAW) taught
Imam Ali (AS) one million "doors" of knowledge! Again the metaphor here is that the word "doors"
stands for books of knowledge or chapters of knowledge! The prophet of God (SAW) has said: "I am
the City of Knowledge and Ali is its Gate. If you want to get (close) to me you have to come through
    the Gate (Ali)"
  191. This prayer echoes a prayer which Muslims repeat daily: O God, bless Muhammad and the people of the House of Muhammad, as you have blessed Abraham and the people of the House of Abraham among all beings.  The House of Muhammad is, therefore, for all Muslims, 'the household of prophet hood and the frequenting place of angels'. The famous Qur'an commentator al-Suyuti quotes a tradition attributed to Umm Salama in interpretation of the verse of purification:  This verse was sent down in my house ... There were in the house then, seven: Gabriel and Michael, and 'Ali, Fatima, Hasan, and Husayn, and I stood at the door of the house. I asked: 'O Messenger of God, am I not of the People of the House?' He said: 'You shall indeed come to a good end! You are, however, one of the wives of the Prophet.' See the commentary on 33: 33 in al-Suyuti, Al-Durr al-manthur.
  192. The close friendship between the Prophet and the holy family, a relationship which went far beyond the bond of blood relation, may be seen in the incident of the mubahala, or prayer ordeal, with which the Prophet challenged the Christians of Najran.See 3:61. see also Muhammad b. 'Isa al-Tirmidhi, Sahih al-Tirmidhi (Cairo, 1920), II, 300, and Ibn Hanbal, I, 185.
  193. In the mubahala verse of the Qur'an, God orders the Prophet and his opponents to 'Call together our sons and your sons, our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves.' In the view of most Qur'an commentators and traditionists, the Prophet's sons are Hasan and Husayn, 'his women' refers to Fatima, and 'his self' refers, apart from himself, to 'Ali. When the people of Najran saw them, they recognized their high status with God, and with great trepidation they declined the mubahala and opted instead for peace.Tradition asserts that the Prophet sensed the hostility which his community was to show to the People of his House after him. He is said to have often declared, 'I am at war against him who fights against you, and will show peace toward him who shows peace to you.' This invective is strongly put in a tradition related on the authority of Abu Bakr, the Prophet's famous Companion and the first caliph. He said:  I saw the Messenger of God pitch a tent in which he placed 'Ali, Fatima, Hasan, and Husayn. He then declared: 'O Muslims, I am at war against anyone who wars against the people of this tent, and am at peace with those who show peace toward them. I am a friend to those who befriend them. He who shows love toward them shall be one of a happy ancestry and good birth. Nor would anyone hate them except that he be of miserable ancestry and evil birth. Abu Ja'far Ahmad al-Muhibb al-Tabari, Al-Riyad al-nadira (Cairo, n.d.), II, 199 For other versions of this tradition, see Murtada al-Husayni al-Fayruzabadi, Fada'il al-khamsa fi sihah al- sitta (Najaf, 1384), p. 252.
  194. Love for the Prophet's family is enjoined by God in the Qur'an, where He says: Say, 'I ask no other reward of you save love of my next of kin' (42:23). Qur'an commentators have generally agreed that 'the next of kin' here intended are the ahl al-bayt. See the commentaries on this verse in
    al-Zamakhshari, al-Tabari, and al-Suyuti.
  195. The People of the House of the Prophet Muhammad have been for the pious an example of generosity, steadfastness in the face of hardship, and a source of solace in time of trials and afflictions. After days of fasting and prayers for the health of the two sick children Hasan and Husayn, the family fed the few morsels of dry bread and dates for which 'Ali had laboured so hard to the needy. On the first evening, we are told, a beggar came. On the second, it was an orphan, and on the third, a captive. To each in turn, they gave the loaf of barley bread and few dates which
Fatima had prepared for the family to break their fast. Thus God sent down the verse: They give food to eat, even though they cherish it, to the needy, the orphan and the captive. 76:8. Quran
  196. Yet, in the end, God sent down a celestial table to feed His friends. Early tradition shows a tension in the relationship of the Prophet to the community and in the relationship of the latter to the holy family. Much of the literature reflecting this tension was most likely the product of a later age, but projected back to the time of the Prophet and his Companions. Here love for the Prophet's family is not simply recommended as a pious act, but is presented as a challenge, and in a harsh reproaching tone. Furthermore, it is on this love to the ahl al-bayt that rewards and punishments on the Last Day are predicated. For a detailed discussion of this tradition, see M Ayoub, pp 43-5.
  197. Thus we are told that the Prophet said:  He who desires the pleasure to live my life, die my death and dwell in a garden of Eden which my Lord has planted, let him be a friend to 'Ali after me. Let him also be a friend to his friends. Let him finally be guided by the Imams after me, for they are my progeny. They were created of my clay, and have been vouchsafed knowledge and understanding. Woe to those of my community who deny their superiority, and those who violate the demands of kindness to my next of kin. May God not grant them my intercession.' Abu Nu'aym, Ahmad b. Abd Allah al-Isbahani, Hilyat al-awliya' (Cairo, 1351). I, 86.
  198. The Prophet placed his hand on Ali's chest and prayed for him in these words: "O Allah! Guide the heart of Ali and protect his tongue from errors". Then he said: "O Ali! Do not quarrel with anyone and try to guide the people to the right path with logic and good behavior. By Allah! If Allah guides someone to the right path through you, it is much better than that on which the sun shines".
  199. In another tradition, the Prophet promises his intercession to those who honour his descendants, provide them with whatever needs they may have, and those who love them with their heart and profess this love with their tongues. Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, VIII, 151, and IV 217. See also Shihab al-Din Ahmad b. Hajar al-Haytami al-Asqalani, Al-Sawa'iq al-Muhriqa (Cairo, 1312), p. 150.
  200. O Peoples ! do not leave him & do not far away from him & nor say no about his waliayat  , Ali a.s is the right person , who work on truth & will show you write path .& will saved you from evils , & saved peoples to going wrong path .
  201. Ali a.s is that person , No one Men ready to pray with his Nabi on the days of darkness , He a.s is the person who Ibdat with me .
  202. `Ali even caught some of the Prophet's saliva.
  203. The person who loves with heart & tongue & hands or practical , all of your loved with you deeply so he completed all Iyyman .
  204. He is Imam ul Arafeen .
  205. This prediction of the Prophet (S.A.W) became the cause of sleepless nights for many. Victory was now certain and guaranteed, who ever carries the flag will not die, and return victorious. So why not have it. Next morning, when the Prophet (S.A.W) rose to speak to the Muslims, many of them who had desired to be "that lucky person" sat erect so that the Prophet (S.A.W) may not overlook him. Umar speaking of his own feelings on that night said, "That was the day when I desired to be that man the Prophet (S.A.W) had predicted, and it was on that day that I dreamt of becoming the Amir (ruler)." [Izalatul Khefah, Vol. 2, Page 49] When Ali (A.S.) was told about the Prophet (S.A.W)’s prediction he said, "O Allah if you do not want to oblige anyone, no one can, and when you want to oblige anyone, who can stop You."
  206. Next morning the Prophet (S.A.W) summoned Ali (A.S.) from his sick bed, and after curing his conjunctivitis by applying his saliva, gave him the flag of Islam and ordered him to proceed to the battlefront. Ali (A.S.) asked, "Have I to fight till they embrace Islam?"
  207. The Prophet (S.A.W) replied, "No teach them Islam and show them their duties towards Allah. If they don’t agree ask them to have peace. By Allah if you succeed in converting even one Jew to Islam, it will be more than finding a red camel, which I am sure you will sacrifice it in the name of Allah."
  208. Ali (A.S.) wearing a red gown, went near the fort of the Jews and posted his flag on a stone. A Jew priest watching Ali (A.S.) from the fort asked,
  209. "O Flag bearer who are you and what is your name." When Ali (A.S.) gave his name he declared to his people, "Beware I swear on Torat that you will be conquered." [Mir Dariyun Naboowa, Vol. 2, Page 30]
  210. Haris Judah brother of Marhab rushed out of the fort and killed some Muslims. Ali (A.S.) challenged him and finished him then and there. Seeing his brother dead Marhab himself came out of the fort with his crack force and began to speak of his valour, strength and courage. "I am the one whose mother has named him Marhab.
  211. " In reply Ali (A.S.) said, "I am the person whose mother has given him the name of Asad (Lion) and I am as dangerous as the Lion of the forest." Marhab taking the initiative attacked Ali (A.S.), but Ali (A.S.) avoided the blow and tendered such a fierceful blow on his head that it cut his helmet, turban and rested on his teeth. Marhab fell dead and his companions fled back to the fort. Ali (A.S.) followed them and took the fort by storm, broke the gate single handed and carried his army inside the fort, and within hours the flag of Islam was flying on the biggest fort of Arabia.
  212. Seeing Ali (A.S.) returning victorious the Prophet (S.A.W) rushed out of his tent, to receive him. He embraced him and kissed his forehead, and said,
  213. "Ali I have received the news of your great achievement, O Ali which is worthy of my thanks and this is the obligation
  214. O Ali no Muslims can forget. Allah has appreciated your services and I am very much pleased with you."
  215. Hearing these words of compliment from the Prophet (S.A.W) of Islam Ali (A.S.) began to cry.
  216. The Prophet (S.A.W) asked him if these tears were of joy or sorrow? Ali (A.S.) replied that these were the tears of joy.
  217. "Why should I not be happy when you are pleased with me." The Prophet (S.A.W) remarked,
  218. "Not only that I am pleased with you, even Allah is pleased with you.
  219. O Ali (A.S.) I am afraid I cannot speak much about you because I am afraid the Muslims on hearing my views may give you the status the Christians have given to Jesus.
  220. But know this that you are to me as Haroon was to Moosa. You will fight for my cause and you will be the nearest to me on the Day of Judgement.
  221. You will be next to me on the fountain of Kausar. Enmity against you is enmity against me.
  222. A war against you is a war against me.
  223. You flesh is my flesh, your blood is my blood.
  224. Who obeys you obeys me.
  225. Truth is on your tongue, in your heart and in your mind."
  226. One day Mu'awiyah criticized Sa'd Waqqas for not cursing Ali. He said in reply: "Whenever I am reminded of three virtues of Ali, I earnestly desire that I might have possessed at least one of them:
  227. 1. On the day on which the Prophet appointed him as his representative in Madina and himself departed for the Battle of Tabuk, he said to Ali: "You enjoy the same relationship with me which Harun enjoyed with Musa except that no prophet will come after me.
  228. 2. On the Day of Khayber the Prophet said: "Tomorrow I will give the standard to a person who is loved by Allah and the Prophet." All the great officers and commanders of Islam were anxious to acquire this honour. On the following day, however, the Prophet called Ali and gave him the standard and Allah granted us a great victory which was solely due to the self-sacrifice of Ali.
  229. 3. When it was decided that the Prophet should engage in Mubahilah (cursing) with the leaders of Najran, he held the hands of Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn, and said: "O Allah! These are the members of my family''.
  230. "WHOEVER I AM HIS MASTER, ALI IS HIS MASTER (repeating three times).
O' God! Love those who love him. Be hostile to those who are hostile to
him. Help those who help him. Forsake those who forsake him. And keep
the truth with him wherever he turns (i.e., make him the axis of the truth)."
  231. He is Imam ul Wasileen .
  232. "The Prophet (PBUH&HF) said: "Islam will continue to be triumphant until there have been twelve Caliphs," So people said Takbir and made noise, then he said a light word I didn't hear. I [Jabir bin Samura] said to my father: What did he say? He said "All of them are from Quraysh."
  233. Narrated Jabir ibn Samura:  I heard the Prophet saying, "There will be twelve commanders (Amir)." He then said a sentence which I did not hear. My father said, the Prophet added, "All of them will be from Quraysh."
  234. "I and Ali and Hasan and Husayn and nine of the descendants of Husayn are the purified ones and the infallible."
  235. "This nation will always remain straight in its affairs, and triumphant against the enemies, till twelve Caliphs will be among them; all of them from Quraysh. Then there will be discord and confusion.
  236. "Every prophet has a vicegerent and inheritor and Ali (A.S.) is my vicegerent and inheritor."
  237. "The enmity of their enemies will not harm them."
  238. "There will be twelve upright Imams for this nation. Those who try to disgrace them will not succeed; all of them shall be from the Quraysh."
  239. "The affair of the people will continue as long as twelve men rule over them."
  240. "This religion will remain till twelve Imams from Quraysh (will pass), then when they expire the earth will swallow its inhabitants."
  241. "The affair of this nation will always be apparent till the twelve Imams will rise, all of them from the Quraysh."
  242. 'Ali and his party (Shi `ah) will be the triumphant ones.
  243. "We were sitting one evening with Abdullah (ibn Mas'ud). We were reciting the Qur'an, then a man asked him: "O Abu Abdur-Rahman, did you ask the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) how many Caliphs will rule this nation?" Abdullah said: "No one asked me about this before you from the time I arrived in Iraq." He said: "We asked him (the Prophet s.a.w.s.), he said: "Twelve, (like) the number of the Chiefs of Bani Israel."
  244. Ibn Mas'ud said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said: "There will be Caliphs after me, whose number is like those of the companions of Musa."
  245. "Ali, the son of Abu Talib, is my brother, my executor (Wasi), and my
successor (Caliph), and the leader (Imam) after me. His position to me
is the same as the position of Haroon (Aaron) to Moses, except that
there shall be no prophet after me. He is your master after Allah and His Messenger."
  246. He is Imam ul Mowahdeen .
  247. "O Folk! Verily Allah has appointed him to be your Imam and ruler.
Obedience of him is obligatory for all Immigrants (Muhajirin) and
Helpers (Ansar) and those who follow them in virtue, and on the
dwellers of the cities and the nomads, the Arabs and the non-Arabs,
the freeman and the slave, the young and the old, the great and the small, the white and the black."
  248. "His commands should be obeyed, and his word is binding and his order
is obligatory on everyone who believes in one God. Cursed is the man
who disobeys him, and blessed is the one who follows him, and he who
believes in him is a true believer. His WILAYAH (belief in his
mastery) has been made obligatory by Allah, the Powerful, the Exalted."
  249. O Folk! Study the Quran. Reflect on its clear verses and do not
presume the meaning of the ambiguous verses. For, by Allah, nobody can
properly explain them to you its warnings and its meanings except me
and this man (i.e., Ali) whose hand I am lifting up in front of myself.
  250. "O People! This is the last time that I shall stand in this assembly.
Therefore listen to me and obey and submit to the command of Lord.
Verily Allah, He is your Lord and God. After Him, His prophet,
Muhammad who is addressing you, is your master. Then after me, this
Ali is your master and your leader (Imam) according to Allah's
command. Then after him leadership will continue through some selected
individuals in my descendants till the day you meet Allah and His Prophet."
  251. "Behold! Certainly you shall meet your Lord and He will ask you about
your deeds. Beware! Do not become infidels after me by striking the
necks of one another. Lo! It is incumbent upon those who are present
to inform what I said to those who are absent for perhaps the informed
one might comprehend it (understand it) better than some of the
present audience. Behold! Haven't I conveyed the Message of Allah to
you? Behold! Haven't I conveyed the Message of Allah to you?" People
replied: "Yes." The Prophet said: "O God! Bear witness."
  252. Ali is the one who (long before the creation of the universe) came into being along with the Holy Prophet each of them being a fragment of the same "Noor", (Light) Muhammad having the Prophethood and Ali having the "Wilayath" (Authority).
  253. 256. Hadhrath Ayesha narrated that Rasulullah (p) said: "Whoever kills Hajr will incur the wrath of Allah". Sunni reference: Kanz al Ummal Volume 7 page 87.
  257. The Sunni Muslims love Hazrat Ali (AS) and and his adherents and hence have been particularly critical of the killing of Hajr bin Adi (RA) and his companions. Mufti Ghulam Rasul a modern day Hanafi scholar in his biography of Imam Jafar Sadiq "Subeh al Sadiq" discusses a number of topics including the slaughter of Hujr bin Adi.
"Hajr and his associates were killed in 51 Hijri and I pray that Allah (swt) showers his mercy upon them. Verily they sacrificed their to protect the honour and dignity of the Lion of Allah, 'Ali. Their murderers told them that they would be saved if they cursed 'Ali - they refused saying 'We shall not do that which shall cause the wrath of Allah (swt). This is because Hajr and his companions knew that the truth was with 'Ali, he was the example of Harun, he was the brother of the Prophet (p) in this world and the next, 300 verses had descended in his praise, 'Ali was with the Qur'an and the Qur'an was with 'Ali, to look at 'Ali's face was an act of worship, to hate 'Ali was an act of Kufr and to have love and faith in 'Ali was a part of Iman. Rasulullah (p) said that the sign of a momin was love for 'Ali and the sign of a munafiq was hatred of 'Ali. It was in light of these facts that Hajr and his companions refused to disassociate themselves from 'Ali, they happily accepted death and willingly sacrificed their lives due to their love for 'Ali".
  258. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh&hp) ordered the killing of Muaweyah in the event of him becoming Caliph , Allah's Messenger (pbuh&hp) said, "If you see Muaweyah on my pulpit then kill him" Sunni references: Mizan al-Itidal Volume 2 page 17; Volume 2 page 129 on the authority of Abu Said al Khudri; Volume 7 page 324 and Volume 8 page 74; "Tadhib al Tadhib" by Ibn Hajar Asqalani Volume 5 page 110 (Hyderabad edition); Kunz al Haqaiq by al Mu'awi page 9; Tabaqat by Ibn Sad Volume 4 page 134-135 (Leiden edition); al Kamil fi Safa al Rijal Volume 2 page 146 hadith number 343; Ansab al Ashraf Volume 5 page 136; Waq'at Sifeen page 216 and 221, Tareekh Tabari Volume 8 page 186.
  259. "The compiler of Sunan Nasa'i Ahmad bin 'Ali was a hafidh of Hadith and in his time an Imam of Ahl'ul hadith. Towards the end of his life he went to Damascus and he was asked about the virtues of Muaweyah, Imam Nasa'i replied "Muaweyah should protect himself, what praise should I shower on him, I know only virtue namely that Rasulullah (s) cursed him "May Allah never satiate his stomach"
  260. Waliat Hazrat Ali Ibn e Abi Talib a.s Ordered is given by Allah Tal ah .It is selected by Allah Tal ah .
  261. Waliat Hazrat Ali Ibn e Abi Talib a.s Ordered is given by Allah Tal ah .It is selected by Allah Tal ah .It is Mohajr o Ansar or Tabeen or Citizen or Sahra peoples , It is Arabic or Non Arabic , Azad or Gulam , white or black , on every person who believe on Allah , must & should obeyed to him (Hazrat Imam Ali a.s)
  262. Hazrat Imam Ali a.s every decision is write & correct & Every his ordered must be obeyed as justice . The person who disobeyed him he is Mardood .& Who followed him they are in best condition & in his Ramat .
  263. The person who will accept them , & who will listen them & follow him , Allah will forgave them .
  264. According to this report Allah addressed the Archangels Jibreel and Mika'il that night and said: "If I decide to grant one of you life and the other death which of you would be ready to accept death and leave life for the other?" Neither of them agreed to this proposal. The Almighty then said: "Now Ali has preferred death for himself and sacrificed his life for the Prophet". Then He ordered them to descend to earth and undertake the safety and protection of Ali.
  265. After Me s.a.w , it is Allah Ordered , Ali a.s is your Imam & Wali .
  266. "O Allah! Love those, who love Ali and be inimical to those who are inimical towards Ali. O Allah! help Ali's friends; humiliate his enemies and make him the pivot of truth".
  267. 'Truth is with Ali and Ali is with truth. there shall be no separation between the two until they meet me near the fountain'
  268. It is Narrated by H. Usman that he heard from Holy Prophet s.a.w that He s.a.w says ,When Imam Ali (AS) came, the Prophet (SAW) summoned him to bend down and sit close to him so that
he can speak with him privately.
  269. Ali-ibn-Abi Talib (a.s.) that the holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said:-
'Whenever the caller shall cry out from the heavens that the truth can be found in Muhammad's household, Mahdi shall emerge at that very moment.
  270. The prophet of Allah (S.a.w.) said: “I am the master of the prophets, who will come after me are twelve, the first one of whom is Ali and the last one is al-Mahdi, who will revolt against injustice.
  271. It is Narrated by Sahahba Akram r.a , that we heard from Holy Prophet s.a.w that , Behold! My Ahlul-Bayt are like the Ark of Noah. Whoever embarked in it was SAVED,  and whoever turned away from it was PERISHED.
  272. Lord Who distinguished Muhammad and His descendants with Excellence;
    Entrusted them with Thy mission;
    And favored them with Thy privilege (of intercession);
    Who made them The Heirs to The Prophets;
    Who sealed upon them the succession and Guardianship of the Religion;
    Who taught them The knowledge of all what was and all that remains;
Who made the hearts for mankind yearn for them.
As the stars in the sky are the Source of guidance to the travellers, The Holy Ones of my Ahlal Bait ( The Twelve Imams) are The Source of Guidance for the people. And, as the stars will remain in the sky until The Day of Judgment, The earth will never be without a Divinely Guide from My Ahlal Bait, That is an Imam".
  273. In this place, the following verse of the Qur'an was revealed:  "O Apostle! Deliver what has been sent down to you from your Lord; and if you don't do it, you have not delivered His message (at all); and Allah will protect you from the people ..." (Qur'an 5:67)    The last sentence in the above verse indicates that the Prophet [s] was mindful of the reaction of his people in delivering that message but Allah informs him not to worry, for He will protect His Messenger from people.
  274. Upon receiving the verse, the Prophet [s] stopped on that place (the pond of Khumm) which was extremely hot. Then he sent for all people who have been ahead in the way, to come back and waited until all pilgrims who fell behind, arrived and gathered. He ordered Salman [r] to use rocks and camel toolings to make a pulpit (minbar) so he could make his announcement. It was around noon time in the first of the Fall, and due to the extreme heat in that valley, people were wrapping their robes around their feet and legs, and were sitting around the pulpit, on the hot rocks. On this day the Messenger of Allah [s] spent approximately five hours in this place; three hours of which he was on the pulpit. He recited nearly one hundred verses from The Glorious Quran, and for seventy three times reminded and warned people of their deeds and future. Then he gave them a long speech.  The Messenger of Allah [s] declared:
  275.  "It seems the time approached when I shall be called away (by Allah) and I shall answer that call. I am leaving for you two precious things and if you adhere to them both,  you will never go astray after me. They are the Book of Allah and my Progeny, that is my Ahlul Bayt. The two shall never separate from each other until they come to me by the Pool (of Paradise)."
  276. Then the Messenger of Allah continued: "Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves?"  people cried and answered: "Yes, O' Messenger of God."
  277. Then followed the key sentence denoting the clear designation of 'Ali as the leader of the Muslim ummah.  The Prophet [s] held up the hand of 'Ali and said:
  278. "For whoever I am his Leader (mawla), 'Ali is his Leader (mawla)."
  279. The Prophet [s] continued: "O' God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him."
  280. Immediately after the Prophet [s] finished his speech, the following verse of the Qur'an was revealed:     "Today I have perfected your religion and completed my favour upon you, and I was satisfied that Islam be your religion." (Qur'an 5:3)
  281. The above verse clearly indicates that Islam without clearing up matter of leadership after Prophet [s] was not complete, and completion of religion was due to announcement of the Prophet's immediate successor. Immediately after the Prophet's speech, Hassan b. Thabit, the Companion and poet of the Messenger of Allah [s], asked for his permission to compose a few verses of poetry about Imam 'Ali [a] for the audience. The Prophet [s] said: "Say with the blessings of Allah". Hassan stood up and said: "O' people of Quraysh. I follow with my words what preceded and witnessed by the Messenger of Allah [s]. He then composed the following verses at the scene:
  282. He calls them, (on) the day of Ghadir, their Prophet In Khumm so hear (and heed) the Messenger's call,
He said: "Who is your guide and leader? (mawlakum wa waliyyukum)" They said, and there was no apparent blindness (clearly):
"Your God, our guide, and you are our leader
And you won't find from among us, in this, any disobedient,"
  283. He said to him: "Stand up O' Ali, for I am
pleased to announce you Imam and guide after me (min ba'di imam(an) wa hadiy(an)),
So whomever I was his leader (mawla), then this is his leader (mawla)
So be to him supporters in truth and followers,"
  284. There he prayed: "Allah! Be a friend and guide to his follower
And be, to the one who is Ali's enemy, an enemy".
  285. After his speech, the Messenger of Allah [s] asked everybody to give the oath of allegiance to 'Ali [a] and congratulate him. Among those who did so was 'Umar b. al-Khattab, who said: "Well done Ibn Abi Talib! Today you became the Leader (mawla) of all believing men and women."
  286. Allah ordered His Prophet [s] to inform the people of this designation at a time of crowded populous so that all could become the narrators of the tradition, while they exceeded a hundred thousand.
  287. Addressing to the people ( Sahabah Karam ) Holy Prophet said " Look !  Do not get ahead and do not get back from my Ahlal Bait other wise you will put your- self  in the state of destruction "  It means that in every condition you have to follow them if you lead or quit them in both the condition you will be the looser,  ( the history clearly indicates that the people adapted both the extremes.)
  288. Holy Prophet said " The love of Ahlal Bait is must for you because if any one who meets the God in a state that one's loves us the God will gift him Heaven due to our Shafa'at, I swear to God that no one will be benefited by his good deeds till he loves and cares of our status ".
  289. Calamity shall befall this nation such that a person will fail in finding any shelter from it. thereafter Allah will appoint a man from my Ahl-e-Bayt
who will fill the earth with equity and justice just as it was previously filled with cruelty and
    tyranny....
  290. He is Imam ul Mutaqeen .
  291. After his speech, the Messenger of Allah asked everybody to give the oath
of allegiance to Ali (AS) and congratulate him. Among those who gave him
the oath were Umar, Abu Bakr, and Uthman. It is narrated that Umar and
Abu Bakr said:"Well done Ibn Abi Talib! Today you became the leader (Mawla)
of all believing men and women."
  292. He is Imam ul Muslimeen .
  293. Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w raised Hazrat Ali Ibn e Abi Talib a.s hands as he reached to his Knee .
  294. As has been stated above the Prophet, while confined to bed, asked his companions to bring him pen and paper so that he might dictate a will and the same should be recorded. He also told them that the will would ensure their not going astray at anytime. (As is clear, the reason mentioned by the Prophet for writing the will was that people might not go astray). Later, on account of differences between those present, the Prophet abandoned the idea of writing the will. It may possibly be asked: "On what subject did the Prophet want to write a will?" Reply to this question is quite clear, because, keeping in view the basic facts mentioned at the beginning of this discussion, it must be said that the aim of the Prophet in writing the will was nothing except confirming the Caliphate and succession of Ali, the Commander of the Faithful, and making it obligatory for the people to follow the members of his household. This conclusion can be arrived at by studying the Hadith Thaqalayn which has been accepted by the Sunni and the Shi'ah traditionalists unanimously, because he spoke thus with regard to the will which he wanted to execute: "I am writing this document to ensure that you do not go astray after me".
  295. "After all that has been said, do you want to bring pen and paper? l recommend only that you should behave well with my progeny". Having said this he turned his face from those present and they too got up and dispersed. Only Ali, Abbas and Fadl remained there.
  296. Then the Commander of the Faithful added: "If you recite the first sentence he will certainly give you a reply in the second sentence, because he is a person who is not at all willing that anyone should be more affable than him". They acted as advised by Ali and the Prophet also forgave them like Joseph. Both of them then put on the requisite dress for jihad and remained steadfast in their faith till the end of  their lives. To make amends for his past Abu Sufyan recited a laudatory poem, the first verse of which is, "By your life! The day on which I carried the standard on my shoulder so that the army of Lat (an idol in Makkah) might be victorious over the army of Muhammad, I was like a perplexed night-traveler who gropes in the dark, but now is the time when I should be under the auspices of the guidance of the Prophet.
  297. Ibn Hajar Askalani has given another version of making amends for the matter and it is not incompatible with the former. He says: "One day, while the Prophet was unwell and his bed was encircled by his companions, he turned his face towards them and said: "O people! The time of my death has arrived and I will be leaving you soon. Be it known to you that I am leaving the Book of Allah and my progeny and Ahl al-Bayt amongst you . Then he held and raised the hand of Ali and said Ali is with the Qur'an and the Qur'an is with Ali and they will not separate from each other till the Day of Resurrection"
  298. One day he was ordered by Allah to warn his near ones of Divine torture and to invite them to Islam before extending an invitation to the public. In a meeting in which forty-five elders of the family of Bani Hashim were present he said: "The first person amongst you who assists me will be my brother and successor". When Ali stood up and acknowledged his prophet hood he turned to those present and said: "This young man is my brother and successor."
  299. "He said to Ali: Stand up for I have selected you to succeed me and to guide the people after me".
  300. Aliyyun wa shi'atuhu humu 'l-fa'izun.
  301. It is Narrated by H.Usman that they heard from , Hazrat Rasool Allah s.a.w that He s.a.w says , Now O Ali a.s ! The person who loves with you by heart , so he completed 1/4 th of Iyyman ,

(Sura Al-A'araf. V.142). Eleven are the brothers of Joseph, son of Jacob, as the Qur'an states, "When said Joseph to his father, O' my father; Verily I did see (dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon,, I saw them all prostrating to me." (Sura Yousuf. V.4). Twelve are the Twelve water-springs manifested by the staff of Moses, as God states, " And (remember) when Moses sought water for his people; said We, `Strike the rock with your staff' Then gushed out therefrom twelve springs; each people knew their drinking place; "Eat and drink God's provision, and commit not evil in the earth acting mischievously. "(Sura Al Baqarah V60). When the Jewish scholars heard the replies of Hadhrat Ali (a.s.) they said, "We bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (saw) is His Messenger and Ali (a.s.) is the "Wasi" and successor of the Messenger of Allah as Aaron was the Wasi of Moses. They all embraced Islam, went back to their tribe and converted all of them to Islam.
  305. Ali while in kthe stage of "Noor" has been the Divine Professor ho imparted knowledge to Gabriel and other angles - hence known as the Teacher of Gabriel.
  306. He was the first to have the honor of being nominated by the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) as his succesor, testator and vice regent.
  307. The Prophet answered that he had a revelation from God to the effect, that, “I should not depute anyone for this proclamation except myself or someone from me. Ali is from me and I am from him. He is my Brother, my Vicegerent, the Executor of my will, and he is my Successor and performs all those duties that devolve on me.”
  308. Once they were surprised in this attitude of prayer by Abu Talib, the father of Ali, who said unto Muhammad “0 son of my brother, what is this religion that thou art following?” Ahmad Hanbal in his Manaqib; Nasal in his Khasaes; Hakim in his Mustadrak. Ibn Athir. “It is the religion of God, of His angles, of His Prophets and of our ancestor Abraham”, “God has sent me to His servants to direct them towards the truth”. Then turning to Ali, his son, the Abu Talib enquired what his religion was. “O Father”, answered Ali, “I believe in God and his Prophet and go with him.” “Well my son,” said Abu Talib, He will  not call thee to aught save what is good, wherefore thou art free to cleave unto him”.
  309. It is Narrated by Abu Bakr , Umar ibn e Katab , Usman bin Afan , that Hazrat Ali a.s whose is Hazrat Ali a.s enemy is reallyy enemy of Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w & whose is enemy of Hazart Muhamamd s.a.w is enemy of Allah Talah & Allah Talh send his enemy into hell .
  310. Al-bayhaqi narrates from Abu sa'eed that Ali prevented them from riding the camels of the sadaqa that they acquired. He then made a person to be their leader and went to the Prophet (peace be upon him). When Ali came back, he found that their leader gave them permission to ride the camels. When Ali saw that, he became angry and he blamed the leader. (In another narration, it mentions that they were new clothes that Ali prevented them from wearing but they wear them despite his orders). Abu sa'eed said that when we went back to madina, we mentioned to the prophet the harshness that we have seen from Ali. The prophet said: Stop O saad ibn Malik: O By Allah I have known that he is done good for the sake of Allah. (Ibn Katheer says that this hadeeth is <jayed> on the conditions of Al-Nasaie)
  311. Ali is the only one who continues in himself the attributes of alll the Prophets put together.
  312. It is Narrated by Abu Bakr , Umar ibn e Katab , Usman bin Afan , that Allah Talah gave order to Hazrat Muhammad s.a.w do Nikkah with Hazrat Ali a.s .
  313. Ibn Katheer said that the people in the army started to talk about Ali (rah) because he prevented them      from riding the camels and took back the new clothes that they acquired. Because of that, after the prophet ( peace be upon him ) was done with the Hajj and while returning back to Madina, he stopped to explain to the people how some of the qualities of Ali and stress the closeness of Ali to him and the importance of loving Ali.  He did so to remove what was in many of the hearts of some of the people against Ali.
  314. Imam Shafi'i says that this is the walaa of Al-islam because Allah(swt) says in the Quran (Surat Muhammad, verse 11: That is because Allah is the Protector (mawala) of those who believe, and because the unbelievers shall have no protector for them (47:11)
  315. In the Quran (Surat Al-hadid (The Iron), verse 15), Allah (swt) says: So today ransom shall not be accepted from you nor from those who disbelieved; your abode is the fire; it is your friend (mawlakum) and evil is the resort. He called the hell fire "mawla" for the extreme closeness to it by the kuffar.
  316. Allah (swt) says in the Quran (Surat At-tahrim ,verse 4): Then surely Allah it is Who is his Guardian (mawlah), and Jibreel and -the believers that do good, and the angels after that are the aiders.

  319. He is the only one, acknowledgement of whose "Wilayath" (authority) along with the Prophethood of Muhammad is the basic requisite for the Prophet hood of any Messenger of Allah.
  320. The prophet ( peace be upon him ) used the word mawla not only to describe Ali but to others as well. The following hadeeth is narrated in Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 715 & and others.
  321. Ali is the replica of the Holy Prophet and is to him what the head is to a body.
  322. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "The tribes of Quraish, Al-Ansar, Juhaina, Muzaina, Aslam, Ghifar and Ashja' are my helpers (mawaalii),, and they have no protector (i.e. Master) except Allah and His Apostle."
  323. Like the Holy Prophet, Ali was bestowed upon with miracles, such as on two occasions he made the sun come back from the west when it had already set.

  326. Biharul Anwar Volume 9 page 69 : Tradition of Imam Jaffer -e- Sadiq [as] through ibn Abbas ; In Sura Tauba the word Azaan means Ali ibn Abi Talib [as] ---- This proves Ali [as] is not only Qull-e-Eeman but he is also Qull-e-Aazaan.
  327. Imam Ghazaali in his Ihya Fi Uloom ad-Deen, under the topic AL-EESAAR AL-AN NAFS.  writes that Allah sent called two of the great angels, Jibreel and Meekaa-eel and said: "I make you two brothers of each other. Now can one of you sacrifice his life for the other." Both declined to do that. Allah then pointed to Ali bin Abi Talib sleeping in the Prophet's bed and said: "There is a brother ready to sacrifice his life for another brother."
  328. Allah then commanded the two angels to go down and protect Ali bin Talib from the enemies. Thus the two angels came and Jibreel stood by Ali's headrest and Meekaa'eel by his feet. And they both were saying: "Bravo, bravo, O son of Abu Talib, Allah is taking pride in your act of self-sacrifice and showing your glory over the angels."
  329. It was on the 17th of Ramadhan in the second year of hijra that the Muslims under the leadership of the Prophet of Islam came out of Madinah and camped at the place known as Badr. In the middle of the night, the Prophet addressed the Muslims and suggested that they should collect water for the next morning. He then asked people to volunteer for this task, but no one came forward. Then Imam Ali (pbh) rose and said that he would go. The Prophet praised him and prayed for his safety. He then proceeded with an empty water-skin. He arrived at one of the wells of Badr. He did not have a rope-and-bucket to pull water out of the well. So, he climbed down into the well, filled the water-skin and then climbed out of it. (Can we imagine the determination of this young soldier? You try going upstairs carrying a load and then look at yourself). While proceeding back to the camp he felt a strong sweeping wind. He had to sit down for a moment to let the wind die down. He then moved and after a while a second wave of sweeping wind came upon him. He had to sit down once again to let the current pass. He proceeded once again and the same thing happened the third time. Finally he arrived at the camp. The Prophet of Islam asked him how and where he was delayed. Imam Ali told the whole story. The Prophet of Islam explained thus: 'First it was the archangel Jibreel accompanied by one thousand angels who did salam to you then it was the angel Meeka’eel with one thousand other angels who said salam to you and the third time it was the angel Israfeel who came with one thousand angels and said salam to you. When you sought aid from your Lord, so He answered you: I will assist you with a thousand of the angels following one another. (Q.8:9)
  330. Biharul Anwar (Volume 9 page 333 ) According to a well source tradition when Our Holy Prophet [pbuh] instructed "Habshi's , Qabti's , Ajmi's and Arabs to say Qalma-e-Shahadat he also instructed them to accept and say Ali [as] is Ameerul Momineen and is " Wali -e- Amr " after me.
  331. Anas bin Malik states that he was sitting with the Prophet of Islam. Suddenly the Prophet showed the signs that he was receiving WAHI[1]. Moments later he turned to Anas and said: “I have received Allah’s command that I should marry my daughter Fatima to Ali.”
  332. When the Prophet was ready to give his daughter away, he took some water, put his saliva into it and sprinkled it on Fatima’s head and between the shoulders. He then prayed to Allah: “Lord I give her and her progeny under your protection.” He then turned to Ali and repeated the same ritual. He continued with the prayer: “Allah! Save them from all rijs as you have saved me, and give them pious and noble children.” The Prophet then turned to Fatima and said: “My daughter, Allah has glorified two people on this earth, one is your father and the other is your husband.
  333. In the Hadith of Kisa, transmitted from Fatima Zahra (sa) through a chain involving Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari, Allah swears that He created the erected Sky, the expanse of the Earth, the illuminated Moon (illuminated by the brightness of the Sun), the bright Sun, the rotating Universe, the flowing seas and the sailing ships (the winds and the tides) for the love of the Mine of Prophethood and his household - his daughter Fatima (sa), her husband Ali (as) and her sons Hasan (as) and Husain (as).
This Hadith was transmitted on the occasion of the revelation of the Verse of Purity, 33:33, which grammatically excludes the wives of the Holy Prophet,“Verily Allah desires to remove all impurity (rijs) from you (O people of the Household), and purify you with a perfect purification.”
  334. The Mercy that Mohammad (saws) is still flows during the period of the ghaibat of the Twefth Imam (as), who is the Imam of this Time. The long life of Imam Mohammad Mahdi (as), the present Khalifatullah, is in its totality for a reason known to Allah. However this pattern has been seen before in the history of the Khalifatullah and is thus not surprising to those who open their eyes. For example, the Khalifas of Allah, Noah (as) and Ibrahim (as) to name but two from many were given miraculously long lives, and it is within the Power of Allah to prevent ageing also, as with the companions of the cave and their dog mentioned in the Qur’an. And indeed, many Imams were relatively quiescent, such as the noble ancestors of the Holy Prophet (as), or even Musa (as) for many years of his life till Allah ordered him to rise and to destroy the kuffar system of Fir’on. And indeed even the greatest Imam and Khalifatullah, Mohammad (saws) himself, though manifest to many was latent to others who were also guided by him during his own lifetime and beyond through their association with his successor Ali (as).
  335. The Holy Prophet has said: “I am the last of time Apostles of Allah (Khatam-un-Nabeeyeen) O Ali, whilst you are the last of the successors to the Prophets.” (Khatam-ul-Waseeyeen). Befriend him who is a friend of Ali, and be an enemy to him who is an enemy to Ali.” Mishkat; Khasais Nasai; Rawdzat.al-Ahbab; Rawdzat-aI-Safa. Tabari; lbne Athir; Abul Fida,AmirAIi

When one who has fulfilled the duties of kinship and discharged his trusts passes over (the Sirat), he will cross over to paradise. It was at this place the Holy Prophet S.A.W.A.S. delivered a very famous sermon known as Khutba-e-Ghadeer (Sermon of Ghadeer). This sermon originated because of the following verse of the Holy Qur'an: "Ya ayyuhar Rasoolu balligh ma unzila elaika min Rabbika wa in lam taf a'l fama ballaghta risalatahu Wallaho ya'semoka minan nas Wallaho la yahdil qawmal kafireen."(5:67) "O (our) Prophet (Mohammad) deliver you what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and if you do it not, then (it will be as if) you have not delivered His Message (at all); and surely Allah will protect you from (the mischief of) men; surely Allah does not guide the unbelieving people."

It is the bounden duty of everyone to offer Him thanks in comfort as well as distress, in ease as well as hardship. I acknowledge to be His servant and creature and bear witness that He is my Master and Lord. I convey to the people all that He reveals to me for their guidance, of I do fear that if I do not do so and fail to carry out His behest I shall have to face chastisement which on one shall be able to avert from me by any device whatsoever."
"O' people, what has been revealed to me by Allah just now is so important that if I do not convey it to you it would mean as if I have not carried out His Mission at all while Allah has guaranteed to me that he would protect me against the evil of the people. Allah has commanded that whatever has been revealed to me in respect of Ali A.S. should be conveyed to you.
  391. Now therefore, O' people bear in mind that Imam Ali A.S. has hereby been appointed Imam over you so that obedience to him is obligatory on the migrants (the Muhajireen) and the locals (the Ansars), on the countrymen and the townsmen, on the Arabs and the non-Arabs, on the freemen and the slaves, on the young and the old, on the white and the black. 397. O' people, there is no issue of knowledge which Allah did not entrust to me and which was not entrusted by me to Imam Ali A.S.. I have given him all the knowledge. He is the Imam-e-Mubeen, the Manifest Guide."
  398. "O' people do not abandon him for following others and do not dislike making him your ruler for he alone would strengthen Truth and act on Truth. No reproach of any person can keep him away from Truth.
  399. O' people, ponder over the Holy Qur'an. Understand its verses. Go deep into the firm ones and do not follow the ambiguous ones. By Allah no one would teach you the implications of its verses with clarity except the person whose hand I am holding whom I am drawing close to me and whose arm is in my arm. No one will be able to divulge to you its commentary save this Ali A.S..
  400. Hadith-i haqq : Umm Salmah has said, "I heard from the Prophet of God who said, 'Ali is with the Truth (haqq) and the Quran, and the Truth and the Quran are also with Ali, and they will be inseparable until they come upon me at Kawthar.'"

(Al-Saduq reports) with his isnad from al-'Imam al-Sadiq-may peace be upon him-that he narrated from his ancestors from the Prophet-may God bless him and his Household-that, in a tradition concerning certain proscribed acts, he forbade the betrayal of trust and said: "Whoever betrays a trust in the life of the world, not delivering it to those to whom it belongs, and then dies, such a person doesn't die upon my creed and he shall meet God in a state wherein He will be wrathful with him. And whoever knowingly purchases the despoils of treachery is like the traitor."

  404. Ibn 'Abbas has said, "I said to the Prophet, 'Who are your descendants whose love is obligatory [upon Muslims]?' He said, 'Ali, Fatimah, Hasan and Husayn.'"
  405. Ali is the one who was ordained to assist all Messengers of Allah from Adam to Jusus, hiddenly and to come out openly to assist the Holy Prophet.
  406. Jabir has transmitted that the Prophet has said, "God placed the children of all prophets in their 'backbone' but placed my children in the backbone of Ali."

  408. Beware the I have discharged my duty; beware that I have conveyed what I was charged by Allah to convey, take note that I have clarified everything and note that whatever Allah revealed to me has been faithfully conveyed by me to you.
  409. Take note that no one except this my brother Ali A.S. would be the Ameerul Mo'mineen, the Commander of the Faithful, for after me it is not lawful for anyone except Imam Ali A.S. to wield authority over the Faithful."
  410. "O' people I have clearly explained all the matters before you. Now after me this Imam Ali A.S would be explaining to you these matters.
  411. After finishing my speech I would call you to pay allegiance (Bay'at) to him, and to acknowledge him. Beware that I have paid allegiance (Bay'at) to Allah while Imam Ali A.S. has paid allegiance to me.
  412. Now I am taking your allegiance for Imam Ali A.S. under the Command of Allah. Now you should also proclaim that in this matter you bow before the Command of Allah and would obey Him, and obey me, and obey Imam Ali A.S., Imam Hasan A.S. and Imam Husain A.S. and the other Imams A.S. in Husain A.S.'s line as mentioned by me."
  413. "O' people, now say what I have told you to say and from now onwards you should offer salutation to Imam Ali A.S. by the title Ameerul Mo'mineen. Now confirm that you have heard and accepted what I have told you, and also say: All praise is due to Allah who gave us guidance for if He had not given us guidance we would have remained without it"."
  414. The entire crowd then cried loudly and confirmed, "Yes, O' Prophet of Allah S.A.W.A.S., we have heard you fully and are ready and prepared to obey every Command of Allah and every Command of the Prophet of Allah with heart, tongue and limbs."
  415. The people then thronged to the Holy Prophet S.A.W.A.S. and Imam Ali A.S. from all sides.
  416. Ali is the sole one Divinely designated as the Hand of Allah, Face of Allah, Eye of Allah, Ear of Allah, Tongue of Allah and Symbole of Allah.
  417. The first who held out their pledge to the Holy Prophet in the matter were Abu Bakr, Umer and Usman.
  418. Then they were followed by other Migrants (Muhajireen) and the Locals (Ansar) and the rest of the people of all classes, groups and grades, so much so that the Maghrib and Isha Salaat were offered together because of the function having extended till it was fairly dark.
  419. Umer the second Caliph is reported to have greeted Imam Ali A.S. on this occasion in the following words: "Greeting be to you O' 'Ali son of Abu Talib; you have become my Master and the master of every believer (faithful) man and woman".
  420. The tradition of the Holy Prophet S.A.W.A.S. whereby he declared that of whomsoever he himself is the Master, Imam Ali A.S. is his Master is called the Hadees-e-Wilayat or the Tradition of vicegerency or succession. It has been narrated by such a continuous and authentic chain of narrators that there can be no iota of doubt in its authenticity, veracity or genuineness. Giving an account of the return of the Holy Prophet S.A.W.A.S. from his farewell Hajj,
  421. Moulana Shiblee writes:"The Holy Prophet S.A.W.A.S. then set off on his return journey towards Madina along with Muhajireen and Ansar. On the way he came to a place called Khum three miles from Haifa. Here there is a pond. The Arabic for a pond is Ghadeer. For that reason usually it is mentioned as Ghadeer-a-Khum in narrations. The Prophet S.A.W.A.S. collected all his companions here and delivered a short sermon: After praising Allah he said, "O' people, I am also a human being. Maybe the angel of Allah (that is, death) comes soon and I may have to respond to him. I am leaving among you two weighty things namely first the Book of Allah which is full of Divine Guidance and Light; you should hold fast to the Book of Allah, and second the People of my House (Ahlul Bait); I recall Allah to you about my Ahlul Bait."
The Holy Prophet S.A.W.A.S. repeated the last sentence thrice. This is as recorded in the Saheeh Muslim of Muslim. However, Nisaee, Imam Ahmad bin Hambal, Tirmizee, Tibrani and Tabari have related some further sentences relating to the merits of Imam Ali A.S.. The most common sentence is the following, "Of whomsoever I am the Master Ali A.S. is his master; may Allah keep friendship with everyone who keeps friendship with Ali A.S. and bear enmity with everyone who bears enmity with Ali A.S."."" Seeratun Nabi, p.165-6
  422. It refers to the Commandment contained in Sura XCIV of the Quran, which says ,Have We not opened thy breast for thee? And put off thy burden from thee, Which galled thy back? And have We not raised thy name for thee? Then verily, with trouble cometh ease, Verily, along with trouble cometh case; And when thou art eased, set up (thy successor), And turn to thy Lord with fervor. In the 7th verse God has commanded the Prophet to appoint his successor.
On hearing this imperious command, the Prophet made up his mind instantly. He motioned the muezzin Bilal to stop and recite the Azan with the words, “Hayya’ ala Khair il’amal” (hasten towards the best of deeds), for surely the acceptance thereof was to be a crucial event upon which the perpetuity of the Prophet’s Mission depended.
  423. Now then”, continued the Prophet, “Listen to me carefully; I have been commanded to tell you that I will soon be taken away from your midst, but I leave unto you my Legacy of two grand precepts, each of which surpasses the other in its grandeur-God’s Holy Book (The Quran) and my Ahl-ul-Bait (my irrevocable Progeny, consisting of Ali, Fatima, Hasan and Husain).
  424. Never shall they separate from one another until they reach me in Heaven at the Fountain of Kausar, and so long as you will adhere unto both my legacies, you will never be led astray after me. Therefore, O ye folk, it is my last Will and Testament unto you that you should always remain faithful to the Holy Quran and my Ahl-ul-Bait as true Muslims until death.
  425. Announcing this thrice, he got down from the raised platform, and seated Ali in a tent, where the people did him homage. Omar bin Al-Khatab was the first to congratulate Ali and to acknowledge him ‘Guardian of all Believers’
Saying “Bakhin bakhin laka ibne Abi Talih Asbahta Maul ayee
Wa Maula kulla Momineen wa Mominaatin.”
“Greetings be to thee O son of Abu Talib!
Thou hast dawned as my Leader and the Leader of all faithful men and women.”
  426. In Mishkat, a tradition of Bara’s Bin Azib and Zaid is quoted here for further clarification from the Musnad of Ahmed ibn Hanbal The Companions state, “We were accompanying the Apostle on his journey. When we reached the oasis of Ghadir-E-Khum, the announcer called ‘Assalato Jamia’, (come to congregational prayer). The earth under the trees was swept for the Apostle. Then after the Zohar prayer was over, the Apostle held the hand of Ali Ibn Abi Talib and said, “O people! Do you know that according to every believer I am superior to his soul?” All of them replied, ‘It is a fact, O Messenger of Allah! To every believer you are superior to his soul’.
  427. Then the Apostle said, ‘Ali is also the Lord of him whose Lord I am.
  428. O Allah! Befriend him who befriends Ali and be alien to him who is alien to Ali.’
  429. Hadith-i manzilah : Sa'd ibn Waqqas has said, "The Prophet of God said to Ali, 'Are you not satisfied to be to me what Harun was to Moses except that after me there will not be another prophet?'"
  430. Thereafter Omar met Ali and said, “Hail to thee! O son of Abu Talib, today you become the Lord of all believing men and women.”
  431. Wahidee in Asbab-un-Nuzool; Suyuti in Tafseer-e-Durr-i-Mansoor; Shaukani in Tafseer Fathul Qadir and Sideeq Hasan Khan in Fathul Bayan mention a tradition noted by Ibn Abi Hatim and other scholars from Abu Saeed Khudri in which it is stated that the verse “O Messenger! Make known what has been revealed unto you by your Lord and if you do not do so you have not made known your message.” The Quran Ch. 5, verse 67-was revealed on the occasion of the event at Ghadir-E-Khum in honor of Ali. Moreover in another tradition which has been quoted by Aini in his annotation of Saheeh Bukharee, this verse is paraphrased as
  432.  “O Messenger! Proclaim the order which your Lord has passed and revealed unto you in honor of Ali Ibn Abu Talib.” So when this verse was revealed the Apostle held Ali by his hand and said, “Ali is also Lord of him who has taken me as his Lord.”
  433. Do you commission us in this matter of your own accord, or is it ordered by Allah?” The Apostle replied, “By Him other than whom there is no one to be worshipped, this is the order of Allah”.

Tafseer-o-Sa’labi, Noor-ul-Absar, Seerat-ul-Halabiyah and Mustadrak relate that when on that day a man named Haris, son of No’man Fihri refused to acknowledge Ali as his leader and disputed with the Holy Prophet on this matter and said, “O Allah! If this be truly Thy Command then either rain down stones from heaven upon Muhammad or punish us.” A large stone fell upon him from heaven so that he was killed, just as the army of Abraha and their elephants had been killed before. The following verse was revealed on that occasion: - “A questioner asked for the inevitable punishment to befall the disbelievers which no one can avert”. (Chapter 70 Verse 1-2.)

  437. Once in Medina, the Prophet set about settling the organization of the provinces and the tribes which had adopted Islam but suddenly came down with a fever. After three days of serious illness, Prophet Muhammad (pbh), the seal of God's Prophets, passed away on the 28th day of the second month of the eleventh Hijira. Ali, who had married Muhammad’s youngest daughter Fatima and had two sons, together with az-Zubayr b. al-'Awwam and Talha b. 'Ubayd Allah separated themselves from the people to make arrangements for the burial of the Prophet.
Abu Bakr and 'Umar in the meantime, after being told that the Ansar had gathered in the hall or Saqifa of Banu Sa'ida, rushed there to prevent any unexpected development. The Ansar of Medina were fearful that they would be dominated by the Meccans so they had hastily assembled at the Saqifa to elect a leader from among themselves.
Addressing the assembly, Abu Bakr pointed out that the Muhajirun were the first people in Islam and that among the Muslims they were nearer to the Prophet in relation. Though the Ansar were their brothers and partners in Islam Abu Bakr continued, the Muhajirun were the umara' or rulers and the Ansar the wuzara or deputies. The Arabs he said, will not submit themselves except to this clan of the Quraish and so suggested the assembly choose between 'Umar and one Abu 'Ubayda al-Jarrah, who were with them as leader of the Muslims.
  438. Both 'Umar and Abu 'Ubayd however, refused the nomination. One Ansar named Al-Mundhir Arqam raised a protest that while they did not reject the merits Abu Bakr had mentioned, there was a better and indisputable person for the position among the Muhajirun which was Ali son of Abi Talib.
Al-Hubabb Mundhir, another Ansar suggested that they have one ruler from among themselves and another from among the Muhajirun. With altercations waxing hotter and voices raising, 'Umar told Abu Bakr to stretch forth his hand and quickly paid homage to Abu Bakr. This was followed by Abu Ubayda and the Meccan Muhajirun present, who were inclined to have someone from among themselves as leader rather than submit to an Ansar of Medina. Some voices of protest which questioned homage other than to Ali were drowned in the tumult and due to the deep-rooted and old enmity between the Banu Aws and the Banu Khazraj, the Ansars felt it much more profitable to submit themselves to a Quraish leader than allow a chief of the rival tribe to rule over them and thus, also paid homage to Abu Bakr. Hence, by an accident of circumstances, Abu Bakr was elected the actual Caliph although the Prophet had commanded that Ali was the Mawla or Master. (Among reference concerning election of Abu Bakr: Sahih Bukhari 9.817 and 5.19)
  439. Abu Bakr's only exclusive claim to the succession was, what some claim, his leadership of the prayer during the Prophet's illness so the task of consolidation of Abu Bakr's authority as successor to the Prophet was far from complete. Aware of Ali's claims and the respect he commanded in a certain group of the companions and lest there be some serious reaction on his and his partisan’s part, Ali's allegiance to Abu Bakr needed to be sought.
However, for six months, until the demoralizing death of his wife Fatima, Ali refused to recognize and pay homage to Abu Bakr and in-fact held himself apart. Fatima too had not spoken anymore to either Abu Bakr nor 'Umar and had asked that on the event of her death, to bury her at night and not permit Abu Bakr and 'Umar to take part in her funeral. (Reference: Sahih Bukhari hadith nos. 5.546; 4.325; 8.718)

Of course, the venerable intercessors, too, will not intercede on behalf of someone who is the object of God's wrath, especially since the betrayer of trust is out of the pale of the creed of the Messenger of Allah-may Allah bless him and his Household. It is stated in a (prophetic) tradition that "Whoever commits a breach of trust in regard to a believer does not belong to me."

  572. In former days, this author, like a bat describing the world-illuminating sun, has described a modicum of the station of prophethood and wilayah in a separate treatise named Misbah al-hidayah. [14]
  573. In al-Kafi [al-Kulayni reports] with his isnad from Muhammad ibn Sinan that he said: "I was with Abu Ja'far, the Second, may peace be upon him, when I mentioned before him the disagreement amongst the Shi'ah. Thereat he said, 'O Muhammad, verily God, the Blessed and the Exalted, is ever unique in His Unity. Then He created Muhammad, 'Ali and Fatimah. They remained for a thousand eons, then He created all the things and made them witness their creation and decreed them to obey them, delegating their affairs (i.e. of the creatures) to them. Hence they permit whatever they will and forbid whatever they will and they will not anything except what God, the Exalted, wills.' Then he said, 'O Muhammad, whoever goes beyond this creed transgresses the bounds [of right doctrine] and whoever lags behind perishes, and whoever adheres to it attains [to the truth]. So hold on to it, O Muhammad!' " [25]
  574. The conviction of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, may peace be upon him, had brought him to the station that he declared: "Even if I were to be given the whole world in order to unjustly deprive an ant of a grain, I would not do it. " [27]
  575. AlTirmidhi in his Sunan (v, 662, no. 3786) records the following tradition ....Jabir ibn `Abd Allah said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah - upon whom be God's peace and benedictions - in the course of his hajj pilgrimage on the day of `Arafah. The Prophet (S) was seated on his camel, alQaswa', and was delivering a sermon. I heard him say: 'O people, I am leaving among you that which if you hold on to you shall never go astray: the Book of Allah and my kindred, my household."
  576. "When the Messenger of Allah (A) returned from the last hajj and came down at Ghadir Khumm...."Then he declared: 'I am about to answer the call (of death). Verily, I have left two precious things (thaqalayn) among you, one of which is greater than the other: the Book of God and my `Itrah, my Ahl alBayt. So watch out how you treat them after me. For, indeed, they will never separate until they return to me by the side of the Pond.' Then he said, 'Verily, God is my master (mawlaya) and I am the wali of every believer.' Then he took `Ali's hand and declared, 'To whomever I am his wali, this one is also his wali. My God, befriend whoever befriends him and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him.'" Abu alTufayl says: "I said to Zayd, 'Did you hear it from the Prophet(S)?' He replied, 'There was no one in the caravan who did not see it with his eyes and hear it with his ears,'"
  577. Hadeeth from Sahih Muslim Book 031, Number 5920:  Yazid b. Hayyan reported, I went along with Husain b. Sabra and 'Umar b. Muslim to Zaid b. Arqam and, as we sat by his side, Husain said to him: Zaid. you have been able to acquire a great virtue that you saw Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) listened to his talk, fought by his side in (different) battles, offered prayer behind me. Zaid, you have in fact earned a great virtue. Zaid, narrate to us what you heard from Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him). He said: I have grown old and have almost spent my age and I have forgotten some of the things which I remembered in connection with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), so accept whatever I narrate to you, and which I do not narrate do not compel me to do that. He then said: One day Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He praised Allah, extolled Him and delivered the sermon and. exhorted (us) and said: Now to our purpose. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Lord and I, in response to Allah's call, (would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it. He exhorted (us) (to hold fast) to the Book of Allah and then said: The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family. He (Husain) said to Zaid: Who are the members of his household? Aren't his wives the members of his family? Thereupon he said: His wives are the members of his family (but here) the members of his family are those for whom acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. And he said: Who are they? Thereupon he said: 'Ali and the offspring of 'Ali, 'Aqil and the offspring of 'Aqil and the offspring of Ja'far and the offspring of 'Abbas. Husain said: These are those for whom the acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. Zaid said: Yes.
  578. Ibn Namir told us that Abd Al-Malik (Ibn Abi-Sulayman) told us according to Attia Al-`ufi who said: I asked Zayd Ibn Arqam and I told him that some people told me a hadeeth according to you about Ali (rah) in the day of Ghadeer Khumm and I want to hear it from you.
  579. So Zayd said: You people of Iraq, you have what you have. I told him: Do not worry about me. He said: Yes we were in Al-Juhfa and the prophet (peace be upon him) came to us holding the hands of Ali (rah) and said: O people don't you know that I am <awla> with the believers from their selves.
  580. They said: Yes. He said: <man kuntu mawlaah fa Ali mawlaah>.  [Attia] said: Did he say: <Allahumma waali man waalah wa `ad man `adaah> (O Allah: Befriend whosoever befriends him and be the enemy of whosoever is hostile to him).
  581. Zayd] said: I told you as I heard it. The saying "man kuntu mawlah fa Ali mawlah" is correct and strong.
  582. The addition <allahummu wali man walaah wa `adi man `adaah>, "O Allah: Befriend whosoever befriends him and be the enemy of whosoever is hostile to him" is also correct, albeit weaker.
  583.   The Sunnah says that it means love and close relation. Muwalat is the opposite of Mu`adat. The proof comes from the first addition: "oh Allah waali man walaah wa `adi man `adaah". (O Allah befriend whosover befriends him and be the enemy of whosoever is hostile to him). So we are talking about muwalah and mu`adat (love and enmity). It is about the love of the people to Ali (rah).
  584. Ibn `Atiyyah in the introduction of his tafsir, alMuharrar alwajiz, i, 34 records the following narration:
...It is narrated that he (i.e. the Prophet) - upon whom be peace - said in the last sermon that he delivered during his illness: "O people, I leave behind two precious things (thaqalayn) amongst you...: the Book of God - which is a rope between Him and you, whose one end is in His hand and whose other end is in your hands so act according to its muhkamat and believe in its mutashabihat; consider as lawful that which it regards as lawful and consider as forbidden that which it regards as unlawful - and my `Itrah and my Ahl alBayt, who are the second thaql. So don't outstrip them (fa la tasbiquhum ), for then you shall perish."
  585. Some Sunni commentators further report that the first three verses of the chapter of al-Ma'arij (70:1-3) were revealed when a dispute arose after The Prophet [s] reached Madinah. It is recorded that: On the day of Ghadir the Messenger of Allah summoned the people toward 'Ali and said: "Ali is the mawla of whom I am mawla." The news spread quickly all over urban and rural areas. When Harith Ibn Nu'man al-Fahri (or Nadhr Ibn Harith according to another tradition) came to know of it, he rode his camel and came to Madinah and went to the Messenger of Allah [s] and said to him: "You commanded us to testify that there is no deity but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah. We obeyed you. You ordered us to perform the prayers five times a day and we obeyed. You ordered us to observe fasts during the month of Ramadhan and we obeyed. Then you commanded us to offer pilgrimage to Makkah and we obeyed. But you are not satisfied with all this and you raised your cousin by your hand and imposed him upon us as our master by saying `Ali is the mawla of whom I am mawla.' Is this imposition from Allah or from you?"
  586. Imam Jafar Sadiq (A.S.) recounts, “My father asked Jabir b. Abdullah Ansari regarding the tablet of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.) which he had seen with her” Jabir narrates, ‘I take Allah as witness that on that occasion of the birth of Imam Husain (a.s.) I went to your mother’s (Hazrat Zahra (s.a.)) House so as to felicitate her on this joyous occasion. I saw a green tablet resembling emeralds in her hand. The writing on the tablet reminded me of the brilliance of the sun. Amazed, I said, ‘O Daughter of the Prophet! May my parents be sacrificed for you! What is the significance of the tablet (in your hand)? She said, ‘This tablet was presented by Allah to His Messenger (saw). It bears my father’s name, as well as the names of my tow sons and their successors. This tablet was then presented to me by my father, to commemorate the momentousness of this birth.’ Then Jabir continues, ‘I swear by Allah that I saw the following inscribed on the tablet. In the Name of Allah, the most beneficent the most Merciful. This is a communiqué from the most Venerable and the most Wise to His light, His messenger, His proof, Muhammad. Jibraeel (A.S.) conveys this tablet form Allah’s side. I have not raised a Prophet and caused him to die, except that I have chosen from him a successor. I have given your successor precedence over all other successors. And after him, I have elevated you through your beloved grandsons, Hasan and Husain. I shall reward the people and chastise them based on their love for the progeny of hasan and Husain. The first among them is Ali, the doyen of worshippers and the adornment of all my friends. After him is his son, Muhammad, the semblance of his ancestor Muhammad (s.a.). He shall disseminate (My) Knowledge, and is indeed the mine of My wisdom. Those who deny (his son) Jafar Shall meet most unpleasant end. I shall elevate Jafar to a lofty station. I shall gratify him through his followers, his helpers and his friends. After him I selected (his son) Moosa. Then the one who denies even one of them, has indeed repudiated (all) my bounties. And one who disowns the eight one (Raza) has indeed denied all my (previous) successors.
  587. Surely Ali is My successor and helper. And I have made it binding upon myself to soothe him through his son Muhammad, who shall succeed him. He is the inheritor of My knowledge and the mine of wisdom. After him is (his son) Ali who is my friend and helper. I shall complete My leadership through him. (Soon) through him I shall manifest Hasan, who will call towards my path and be the treasurer of My knowledge. Then I shall complete this chain through his son Muhammad (atfs) the mercy for the universe. Indeed these are my true successors. I shall repel all discord and strife through them. I shall reform all errors through them. Through them, I shall grant reprieve to the imprisoned, their religion is incessantly sending salutations and mercy upon them, Verily they are beacons of guidance (for mankind). Ref: Faraadius Simtain, Chapter 2/137-139, Tradition 432
  588. “Ye people! Close your doors opening into the Mosque.” The people were struck with wonder to hear the voice, but they sat dumb without stirring to carry out the Command, till they heard again the injunction to close the doors on pain of Divine Wrath. Terrified at this warning, they all approached the Prophet, who was in his apartment. Ali also came out of his apartment, which was adjacent to the Prophet’s rooms since the day of Fatima’s marriage with him. He stood by the Prophet when he ordered that all the doors opening into the Mosque, excepting that of Ali and his own, should be closed. People began to murmur. The Prophet was angry at their attitude and addressed them thus: “Verily, God ordered His apostle Moses to build a holy Mosque, and he allowed Moses, Aaron and the two sons of Aaron, viz. Shabbar and Shabbir, to live therein. I was likewise ordered to construct a holy mosque wherein myself and my brother All and his two sons, Hasan and Husaln are allowed to live. Verily, I do only what I am ordered to do. I never undertake to act on my own wish. Certainly I have not ordered of my own accord to close your doors or to let All’s door open. it is God who granted All an abode in the Holy Mosque.” Consequently, the companions, whose houses skirted the quadrangle of the Mosque, closed their doors.
  589. It is recorded on the authority of Sa’d, that the Apostle of God said to Ali “It is not lawful for any to be in the Mosque while under the obligation of performing a thorough ablution except for me and for thee,” Major Jarret’s translation of Suyuti’s His. p. 175.
  590. Omar b. Al-Khattab said “Verily, Ali has been endowed with three qualities, of which had I but one, it would be more precious to me than were I given high bred camels.” It was asked of him what they were? He replied “His marriage with Fatirna, the daughter of the Prophet; his remaining in the Mosque while that is permitted to him which is not lawful for me; and carrying the Standard’ on the day of Khaibar.” Major Jarret’s translation of Suyuti’s His. p. 175. Tirmizi Mishkath 463, Nasai page 9, Riazunnazarah Vol. II page 192, Ibn-.e-Maghazili and Kanzul-Urnmal page 29.
  591. Some one then suggested to Hazrat Ali that he should place a proposal for himself before the Holy Prophet. Ali approached the Prophet feeling shy and modest, but when Muhammad heard the proposal he was so pleased that he smiled and said, “Ahlan wa Merhaban” (It is a welcome and happy proposal.)
  592. Holy Prophet announced that Gabriel had brought the good news that God had performed the marriage of Fatima and Ali in Heaven and the Prophet should perform the same on earth.
  593. All the Muhajireen and Ansar of Medina assembled in the mosque, while Hazrat Ali was seated before the Holy Prophet with all the modesty of a bridegroom. The Holy Prophet first recited an eloquent sermon and then announced, “I have been commanded by God to get Fatima wedded to Ali, and I do hereby solemnize the matrimony between Ali and Fatima on a dower of 400 Misquall.” Then he asked Hazrat Ali, “Do you consent to it O Ali?” “Yes, I do, O Holy Prophet of God.” Then the Holy Prophet raised his hands in supplication and prayed thus “O my God! Bless both of them, sanctify their progeny and grant them the keys of Thy beneficence, Thy treasures of wisdom and Thy genius; and let both of them be a source of blessing and peace to my people.”
  594. Then Ali prostrated himself before God. After a service of thanksgiving in which the Holy Prophet asked God for His blessings on the couple, praying, “O Almighty Lord! Bless them both and better their endeavors and give them noble children”. The marriage was then performed. Addressing Ali, the Holy Prophet then said, “O Ali, lucky art thou indeed! Of all the virtuous women of the world, your wife is queen.” Then turning towards Fatima the Holy Prophet said, “Of all the virtuous men of the world your husband is the king. May God keep you pious and chaste and bless your children. Verily I am a friend to him who befriends you both and an enemy to him who is your enemy.”
  595. Ali’s mother, Fatima-binte-Asad, also loved Muhammad like a son from the time when, at the age of six, he entered her home. After the death of Abd-al-Mottalib, she had affectionately looked after him. At the time of her death in the year 4 A.H., the Holy Prophet had her covered with his own shirt, after her bath preparatory to her burial. He took part in the digging of her grave, and when it was ready, he first lay down in the grave and sanctified it, then he prayed for her. When the people asked him the reason for showing such favors to the deceased, the Holy Prophet replied, “After Abu Talib if ever I was grateful to any one, it was this pious soul who mothered me, nurtured me, brought me up and took me as her very own son.”
  596. “This is the Treaty made between Muhammad the Apostle of God and Suhail son of Amr.” Suhail again raised an objection and said that had the Meccans acknowledged him as an Apostle of God they would never have taken up arms against him1.
  597. Instead of “the Apostle of God”, Suhail asked the Prophet to have his father’s name written. The Prophet again yielded, but Ali had already written the words, “Muhammad the Apostle of God”2.
  598. The Prophet bade Ali to erase the words under objection, but as Ali hesitated, the Prophet himself taking the writing materials obliterated the words and had the words, “son of Abdullah” substituted in place of “Apostle of God”. 3
  599. He prophesied at the same time, addressing Ali that he would similarly have to yield on a similar occasion in his own time. This prophecy was fulfilled when a treaty was concluded between Ali and Muawiya some thirty years later.
  600. Authentic Proofs are quoted below regarding the Ayah of the Holy Quran-Sura 3-verse 60 as given on page 73 Imam Fakhruddin Razi writes in his ‘Tafseer-e-Kabeer’ (Volume 2) : “When this verse was revealed to the Holy Prophet, the Christians of Najraan accepted the challenge of ‘Mubahala’ and the Holy Prophet took along with him Imam Hasan, Imam Husain, Janab-e-Fatima and Hazrat Ali to the field of ‘Mubahala’ “. Alama Zamakhshari writes in his ‘Tafseer-e-Kashshaf’ : “There can be no more authentic and stronger evidence for the holiness of Ashab-e-Kisa, i.e., Hazrat Ali, Janab-e-Fatima, Imam Hasan and Imam Husain, than this Quranic verse. For in compliance with the order of God, the Holy Prophet summoned his Ahl-ul-Bait, took Imam Husain in his arms, grasped Imam Hasan’s hand in his own, asked Janab-e-Fatima to follow him, and Hazrat Ali to follow her. This proved that the Holy Ahl-ul-Bait were those to whom the Quranic verse was directed.”
  601. "Whomsoever I have authority over, Ali (A.S.) has also authority over him, O Allah! Befriend whoever befriend him and be hostile to whosoever is hostile to him".
  602. "Ali (A.S.) is with truth and truth is with Ali (A.S.). They will never separate until they join at the Pool of Kawthar in the Hereafter"
  603. The likeness of my Ahlul-Bayt is that of the Ark of Noah, whoever got into it got saved, and whoever turned away from it got drowned and lost."
  604. "Every prophet has a vicegerent and inheritor and Ali (A.S.) is my vicegerent and inheritor."
  605. "You [Ali (A.S.)] are to me as Aaron unto Moses, only there is no prophet after me."
He calls them, (on) the day of Ghadir, their Prophet
In Khumm so hear (and heed) the Messenger's call,
He said: "Who is your guide and leader? (mawlakum wa waliyyukum)"
They said, and there was no apparent blindness (clearly):
"Your God, our guide, and you are our leader
And you won't find from among us, in this, any disobedient,"
He said to him: "Stand up O' Ali, for I am
pleased to announce you Imam and guide after me (min ba'di imam(an) wa hadiy(an)),
So whomever I was his leader (mawla), then this is his leader (mawla)
So be to him supporters in truth and followers,"
There he prayed: "Allah! Be a friend and guide to his follower
And be, to the one who is Ali's enemy, an enemy"
  607. Implicit faith in the duty of a man to earn the pleasure of the Almighty Allah and His Prophet Muhammad ( p.b.u.h ), at any cost, even at the cost of his own life The courage of surrendering himself willingly with the utmost peace of mind, to sleep under the swords, ready to fall upon him .The confidence and faith in God's protection . And on the night of Hijrah, Allah the glorious revealed to Jibrail and Mikail I have established brotherhood between you two and have ordained the life of one longer than the life of the other. Now, are you willing to make a present of the extra length of life to the other? But each preferred the longer life for himself. Then Allah revealed Why not follow the example of Ali ibn Abu Talib. I have established brotherhood between him and Muhammad (pbuh). He is now sleeping on the bed of Muhammad in order to save his life by sacrificing his own. Now descend both of  you to the earth and protect him from his enemies. Both the angels descended. Jibrail took up his position near Ali's head and Mikail near his feet. Jibrail was crying  out aloud Excellent. Excellent. O son of Abu Talib! There is none like you. Allah is making boast of you before the angels. And it was on this very occasion that the above verse was revealed.
